| The mission of the Home Builders Foundation is to provide accessibility solutions and home modifications for individuals with disabilities and financial need through the collaborated efforts of the building industry.
Imagine how hard it is to live in your own home if you are in a wheelchair and the doorways are too small for you to pass through, or you can't reach the cupboards, or use your own bathroom. These are just some of the challenges that people face living in their homes when they are in a wheelchair. The work of the Home Builders Foundation is to help restore a level of independence for people with disabilities and a financial need by providing solutions to these challenges. We build ramps, widen doorways, and make bathrooms and kitchens accessible. The HBF changes lives by providing home modifications which help people remain in their own home with dignity and independence. In 2011, for every $1 granted to a project, the Home Builders Foundation was able to provide approximately $9.55 in retail value to the people it served. This is possible because so much of the construction materials and labor for each project was donated and/or discounted by our generous partners and volunteers. In the past year, the HBF completed 33 projects with an estimated retail value of $245,000. In the past six years, the Foundation has completed close to 200 projects and helped hundreds of individuals and families with disabilities and financial need through the caring and professional work of countless of HBF volunteers and supporters. The HBF is guided by our dedicated Board of Directors. The board meets at 12noon on the second Thursday of every month at the Home Builders Association office. | ||||
